Size 9 needles
Gauge: Worsted yarn-approx 5sts = 1 inch
Cast on 27sts
Row 1. *K3, p3*, repeat 3 more times, end with k3.
Row 2. *P3, k3*, repeat 3 more times, end with p3.
Row 3. *K3, p3*, repeat 3 more times, end with k3.
Row 4. *P3, k3*, repeat 3 more times, end with p3.
Row 5. *P3, k3*, repeat 3 more times, end with p3.
Row 6. *K3, p3*, repeat 3 more times, end with k3.
Row 7. *P3, k3*, repeat 3 more times, end with p3.
Row 8. *K3, p3*, repeat 3 more times, end with k3.
Repeat rows 1-8 for as long as you want. End with rows 1-4.
Bind off in pattern. Weave in ends.
This is a GREAT pattern - adds a thickness to a simple single layer knit object - neat pattern too - looks way more complex that it is - as you said!!
