Classes for Summer 2009

ARROWHEAD SHAWL

Meg's sister Susan, is coming to town and will be teaching this great shawl class. It takes only one skein of sock yarn and is quick to memorize. "There are few patterns more beloved in knitting than the classic triangular lace shawl. Beginning at the center with just a few stitches, the shawl grows via paired increases, adding motifs on each side as the work progresses. A process that many knitters find irresistible to watch!" from designer Pam Allen. The pattern is available online at Knitting Daily and you will need to enter a search for the 7 Free Lace Patterns.
Date: Friday, July 24
Time: 11:00am to 1:00pm
Fee: $22.00 plus materials
Instructor: Susan Peck

LACE RIBBON SCARF

Designer Veronik Avery says, “Lace Ribbon was meant as a portable project. Its pattern is easily memorized and a breeze to work on in otherwise wasted moments.” Meg has already started on this and it really is easy to memorize. It’s also kinda fascinating to watch it form; and this is from the easily distracted knitter!

Date: Thursday, July 30

Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm

Fee: $22.00 plus materials

Instructor: Meg Smith

MINDFUL KNIT OR CROCHET

Knitting is a really fine way to clear one’s mind. This workshop will be about filling your project with peaceful thoughts. There will be a minimum of talking and a maximum of peacefulness. A prayer shawl is a good choice of project but any project is ok. If you want to donate a shawl it will be gratefully accepted. We are in the process of finding a group to donate to.

Date: Friday, July 31

Time: 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Fee: $11.00 plus materials

Instructors: Meg Smith and Sara Peters

Great Knit 'n Nosh

Thanks to everyone who attended our first Knit 'n Nosh. We had a lot of fun and some really great food. The creative energy was powerful and I know several people had trouble falling asleep that night! Our next Knit 'n Nosh will be Friday, June 26, so mark your calendar and plan to be there. There was some talk of making theme potlucks so we will see about that. I don't know for sure but an orange theme was mentioned. : )
